2026 Mazda CX-90 Sees Price Increases, New Options
For the 2026 model year, Mazda has nudged up prices for its North American CX-90 lineup while adding a handful of content upgrades and a new optional paint finish. The mid-size, three-row CX-90 — designed primarily for the U.S. market — gains improved packaging, Amazon Alexa voice integration and an optional Polymetal Gray Metallic paint, among other tweaks. Below we break down trims, specifications, performance figures and how the CX-90 stacks up in the premium three-row crossover segment.
Trim Overview and Interior Equipment
Base and mid-level trims
The entry-level 3.3 Turbo Select carries over for 2026 with eight-seat configuration, black leatherette upholstery, a 7-inch TFT driver display and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen. Standard connectivity includes smartphone integration, USB-C outlets, keyless entry and three-zone automatic climate control. Exterior touches are LED lighting, a black honeycomb grille and 19-inch wheels, plus standard driver-assistance systems.
The 3.3 Turbo Preferred steps up to a 12.3-inch center display and adds heated front seats, a power sunroof, choice of black or greige leather, retractable second-row shades and ventilated front seats. Comfort upgrades such as heated second-row seats and a heated steering wheel are also available on higher-spec models.
Premium and sport-oriented variants
The 3.3 Turbo Premium Sport boasts 21-inch wheels, black lower-body cladding, over-the-air (OTA) updates, a panoramic moonroof and a Bose audio system. It also adds HomeLink with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, satellite radio and Mazda’s Intelligent Drive Select modes.
The 3.3 Turbo Premium Plus moves to Nappa leather seating, offers a 150-volt outlet in the cargo area and provides buyers with an option of seven- or eight-seat layouts.

Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) Models and Technology
Mazda continues the plug-in hybrid lineup with the CX-90 PHEV grades. The PHEV Preferred introduces a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder paired with an electric motor and a 17.8 kWh battery pack. Combined system output is rated at 323 hp (328 PS/241 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. With a full charge the PHEV can cover up to about 26 miles (42 km) on electric power alone and carries a towing capacity of up to 3,500 lbs (1,588 kg).
The PHEV Premium Sport builds on the Preferred with a power tailgate, head-up display and navigation that includes off-road routing capabilities, plus additional driver-assist features. The PHEV Premium Plus adds adaptive headlights and Nappa leather upholstery for a more luxurious experience.

Performance: Engines and Drive Modes
Under the bonnet of most gasoline CX-90s is Mazda’s e-Skyactiv G 3.3 Turbo inline-six, a mild-hybrid-assisted engine producing 280 hp (284 PS/209 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Turbo S variants receive a tuned version of the six-cylinder that generates 340 hp (345 PS/254 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) when running on premium 91-octane fuel — the brand’s most potent gasoline offering in this model range.
PHEV models offer selectable drive modes including Sport, Off-Road and EV, letting drivers prioritize electric range, traction or performance depending on conditions. Mazda’s blend of internal-combustion and electrified hardware aims to deliver strong mid-range torque and respectable efficiency for a three-row SUV.
Design and Packaging
The CX-90’s proportion and packaging have been engineered for North American tastes: a long 122.8-inch (3,120 mm) wheelbase provides roomy second- and third-row seating and cargo flexibility. Mazda builds the CX-90 in Japan and sells it across markets including the Middle East and Australia, but notably it is not offered in Europe. As the successor to the CX-9, the CX-90 is larger overall and even exceeds the wheelbase length of full-size rivals such as the Toyota Sequoia in that specific dimension, giving it a commanding presence in the mid/large SUV category.
Pricing and Market Positioning
For 2026 Mazda has raised MSRPs across the CX-90 range. Retail prices now start at $38,800 for the 3.3 Turbo Select, $42,950 for the 3.3 Turbo Preferred, $46,980 for the 3.3 Turbo Premium Sport and $50,270 for the 3.3 Turbo Premium Plus. To compare, 2025 base pricing began at $37,845, $40,945, $46,400 and $49,400 respectively — illustrating a clear across-the-board increase.
PHEV pricing also changed: 2025 PHEV Preferred, PHEV Premium Sport and PHEV Premium Plus started at $49,945, $54,900 and $57,950. For 2026 their MSRPs are $59,495, $55,300 and $58,500 respectively. Turbo S Premium Sport and Turbo S Premium Plus trims begin at $53,940 and $57,370 for 2026, up modestly from 2025 levels.
The price hikes are accompanied by modest equipment gains such as Alexa integration and a new Polymetal Gray Metallic paint option, but there are no changes to the core powertrains for 2026.
How the CX-90 Matches Up
Positioned as Mazda’s flagship three-row crossover in the U.S., the CX-90 competes with premium-badged SUVs and upscale mainstream alternatives. Its strengths include a refined inline-six gasoline option, a capable PHEV powertrain for buyers seeking limited electric-only driving, quality interior materials like available Nappa leather, and a comfortable, driver-focused chassis. Compared with traditional V8-powered rivals the CX-90 emphasizes efficiency and driving dynamics while still offering towing capability and three-row practicality.
Model Lineup and Dealer Availability
Alongside the CX-90, Mazda’s U.S. portfolio continues to include the CX-70, CX-50, CX-30 and CX-5, plus Mazda3 in hatchback and sedan forms and the MX-5 Miata family. The 2026 CX-90 remains a centerpiece of Mazda’s North American range, providing buyers a premium-feeling three-row SUV with multiple powertrain choices.
Final Thoughts
The 2026 Mazda CX-90 brings incremental equipment upgrades and a small price increase across the board. Buyers gain modern infotainment enhancements and a new paint option, but should expect familiar engines and drivetrain choices carried over from the previous year. For shoppers prioritizing interior quality, a sophisticated inline-six, or a plug-in hybrid option with respectable electric range and towing capability, the CX-90 remains a compelling choice in the crowded three-row SUV segment.
